Interior Design

Our house (in 20 years)

The Dutch have a knack for interior design. Perhaps because the weather isn’t that great, and people spend a lot of time inside, they want to make sure inside is a really nice place to be.

Some cafes aren’t just cafes, but excerpts from Modern Living magazine. They make Starbucks look like a retro shit hole in comparison.

Some restaurants aren’t just restaurants, but paragons of futuristic minimalism. Their chairs are so cool it hurts to sit on them. Some houses just look to sleek to be lived in. How do I know? Because I’ve been looking in the windows.

About Home Strange Home

I first left the US in 1999, when I was 18 years old. Since then, I’ve spent 13 years living abroad - 3 in Canada, 7 in Europe, and 3 in Africa. Now I've finally returned to the US on a one-way plane ticket. I arrived home in late January 2014 and set foot in the US for the first time in nearly 2.5 years. In Home Strange Home, I blog about the ups and downs of my re-acculturation experience.
