To all of my loyal friends and readers, I am very sad to say that today is the end of my “What the Dutch” blog, or rather the beginning of a five month sabbatical. I am leaving tomorrow to live, work, and travel in the Horn of Africa for 4.5 months. But don’t cry! First of all, I’ll be back in Holland in August and will resume my regular cloggie blogging then. Second of all, while I’m living in Somaliland I’ll be starting another blog, called The Phoenix of Somalia, so you can follow my African adventures there. So, as the Dutch would say, “Doe-Doei!” (bye-bye) and “Tot ziens!” (see you soon).

About Home Strange Home

I first left the US in 1999, when I was 18 years old. Since then, I’ve spent 13 years living abroad - 3 in Canada, 7 in Europe, and 3 in Africa. Now I've finally returned to the US on a one-way plane ticket. I arrived home in late January 2014 and set foot in the US for the first time in nearly 2.5 years. In Home Strange Home, I blog about the ups and downs of my re-acculturation experience.
